SCC’s Health Sciences Division hosts the School of Allied Health & the School of Nursing.  Each school offers several rewarding and impactful healthcare programs of study.  To learn more please attend one of our weekly information sessions. For more details, please see the programs of interest below.

Many Health & Human Services programs have unique requirements and prerequisites that must be met in order to gain admission into programs that have enrollment limits. Refer to the Health & Human Services Admission Requirements page for more information.

School of Allied Health Program Information Sessions:

(Diagnostic Medical Sonography, EMS.  Expanded Duty Dental, Medical Assisting, Medical Laboratory Technology, Pharmacy Technician, Respiratory Care Technician, Radiologic Technology, & Surgical Technology)

 

Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS)

Attendees will receive an overview of the Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS)    Program and the role of a professional Sonographer.  Our goal is to equip you with detailed insight into the DMS Program including expectations, so that you may make a well-informed decision when selecting a program of study and career path.  

Attending an information session prior to applying is not required but strongly encouraged.  Feel free to bring a parent, friend, spouse, or anyone who may be interested in any of our Allied Health programs. 

Beginning July 17, 2026 through December 18, 2026 joint program information sessions will be held every other Friday from 9am – 10am  (July 17, 31; Aug. 14, 28; Sept. 11, 25; Oct. 9, 23; Nov. 6, 20; Dec. 4)

All sessions will be held in Room 102 of the Health Sciences Building located on the Giles Campus of SCC at 850 Brisack Rd. Spartanburg, SC  29303.

 

Expanded Duty Dental Assisting (EDDA) 

Attendees will receive an overview of the Expanded Duty Dental Program (EDDA) and the various roles of a professional Dental Assistant.  Our goal is to equip you with detailed insight into the EDDA Program including expectations, so that you may make a well-informed decision when selecting a program of study and career path.  No appointment or registration is needed.   Parents, spouses, significant others, friends, current SCC students, etc., are welcome to attend.

Attending an information session prior to applying is not required but strongly encouraged.  Feel free to bring a parent, friend, spouse, or anyone who may be interested in any of our Allied Health programs. 

Tuesday, July 14, 2026 at 10am Room 129 in the Health Sciences Bldg. (Dental Only)

Beginning July 17, 2026 through December 18, 2026 joint program information sessions will be held every other Friday from 9am – 10am  (July 17, 31; Aug. 14, 28; Sept. 11, 25; Oct. 9, 23; Nov. 6, 20; Dec. 4)

These sessions will be held in Room 102 of the Health Sciences Building located at 850 Brisack Rd. Spartanburg, SC on the Giles Campus of SCC.

Emergency Medical Services Sessions (EMS)

Attendees will receive an overview of the Emergency Medical Services profession and the roles of an EMT and Paramedic within EMS. Additionally, the EMS programs at SCC will be presented in detail. The goal of the session is to equip a student to make a well-informed decision when deciding on a program of study and career path. Feel free to bring a parent, friend, spouse, or anyone who may be interested in any of our Allied Health programs. 

Sections are optional; however, students are encouraged to attend one within the academic year in which application into the program is likely.

Exception:  Applicants for the EMT Academy paid apprenticeship through Spartanburg Regional Medical Center are required to attend one information session.

All EMS sessions are held at 9am in Room 150 at the Evans Downtown campus located at 220 East Kennedy St. Spartanburg, SC.

Medical Assisting 

Attendees will receive an overview of the Medical Assisting (Med Assist) Program and the various roles of a Medical Assistant.  Our goal is to equip you with detailed insight into the Med Assist Program including expectations, so that you may make a well-informed decision when selecting a program of study and career path.  No appointment or registration is needed.  Attending an information session prior to applying is not required but strongly encouraged.  Feel free to bring a parent, friend, spouse, or anyone who may be interested in any of our Allied Health programs.

Attendees will receive an overview of the Radiologic Technology Program (RAD) and the various roles of a professional Radiologic Technician.  Our goal is to equip you with detailed insight into the RAD program including expectations, so that you may make a well-informed decision when selecting a program of study and career path.  No appointment or registration is needed.   Parents, spouses, significant others, friends, current SCC students, etc., are welcome to attend.

Attendees will receive an overview of the Respiratory Care Program (RES) and  the various roles of a professional Respiratory Therapist.  Our goal is to equip you with detailed insight into the RES program including expectations, so that you may make a well-informed decision when selecting a program of study and career path.  No appointment or registration is needed. Attending an information session prior to applying is not required but strongly encouraged.  Feel free to bring a parent, friend, spouse, or anyone who may be interested in any of our Allied Health programs.

Attendees will receive an overview of the Surgical Technology Program and the various roles of a professional Surgical Technician.  Our goal is to equip you with detailed insight into the SURG program including expectations, so that you may make a well-informed decision when selecting a program of study and career path.  No appointment or registration is needed. Attending an information session prior to applying is not required but strongly encouraged.  Feel free to bring a parent, friend, spouse, or anyone who may be interested in any of our Allied Health programs.
