Participants, families, volunteers, and supporters gathered on campus to celebrate the mission of Girls on the Run: encouraging young girls to recognize their strength, build confidence, and develop lifelong skills through mentorship, movement, and positive relationships.

The event brought together girls from across the community for a morning filled with encouragement, excitement, and celebration. Families and supporters lined the course and campus areas cheering on participants as they completed the event together.

“SCC was thrilled to host this season’s Girls on the Run 5K and celebrate the incredible confidence, perseverance, and joy these participants have built throughout the program. This event brings together our community to celebrate the strength and determination these young girls have developed throughout the season, and I’m proud to help create an experience that reminds them just how capable they are,” said Amber Kreger, Dean of Educational Partnerships at Spartanburg Community College.

Girls on the Run is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum that creatively integrates running and personal development.

Spartanburg Community College was honored to serve as the host site and support an event that aligns with the College’s commitment to community engagement and student success.

“Hosting Girls on the Run on our campus was a wonderful opportunity for Spartanburg Community College to support a program that inspires confidence, character, and perseverance in young girls. Events like this create meaningful experiences that encourage participants to believe in themselves, support one another, and recognize their potential. We appreciate everyone who helped make the event such a positive and memorable experience for the participants and their families,” said Dr. Michael Mikota, President of Spartanburg Community College.

“You don’t have to be perfect to have power,” served as a meaningful reminder throughout the event as participants celebrated their accomplishments and encouraged one another.
