The Story Behind Chaser
Chaser was created to reflect who we are at SCC — a community that strives, grows, and never stops pursuing what’s possible. Our mascot’s name honors that spirit of “chasing” excellence, opportunity, and meaningful connection. When it came time to choose a symbol that could represent our diverse and energetic student body, we knew it needed to be something extraordinary — something that embodied hard work, heart, and determination.
It didn’t take long before someone suggested the border collie, a dog celebrated for its intelligence, loyalty, and drive. Border collies are natural problem-solvers who love to learn, collaborate, and stay on the move. They thrive when they’re engaged, curious, and part of something bigger — just like our students. In every way, they mirror the energy behind our motto: Dream It. Chase It. Live It.
Where You’ll See Chaser
Chaser is a joyful presence at SCC. You’ll find her cheering at campus events, welcoming new students at orientation, and bringing smiles to families at programs like Spring Fling and Fall Festival. She’s especially loved by children, alumni, and anyone who enjoys a friendly high-five and a dose of Chaser spirit.
Fun Fact: Chaser made her official debut in 2020 and has since become one of the most recognizable mascots in the Upstate.
