Spartanburg Community College Software Development Student Wins Development Challenge, Earns Professional Contract Opportunity
Spartanburg, SC — Spartanburg Community College (SCC) Software Development student Aditya Patel has turned a classroom opportunity into a career milestone after winning a software development challenge and securing a professional contract with a local technology company.
The competition was sponsored by Quinton Harris, founder of GetMoving100, a company dedicated to promoting health, wellness, and healthy living through technology-driven solutions. Students were challenged to design and develop an application that serves as an interface between users and artificial intelligence technology, providing personalized nutritional guidance through a simple, intuitive user experience.
Projects were evaluated on functionality, visual appeal, efficiency, accessibility, and ease of use for individuals with varying levels of technical experience. After reviewing the submissions, Harris selected Aditya's application as the winning project.
In recognition of his exceptional work, Aditya received a $500 cash prize for developing the solution that best met the project's objectives while delivering the strongest overall user experience.
Aditya's success extended beyond the competition. Impressed by the quality of his work and technical expertise, Harris offered him a contract position as a web developer with GetMoving100. In this role, Aditya will continue enhancing and supporting the application, gaining valuable professional experience while contributing to a technology solution designed to improve community health and wellness.
"Aditya's achievement is a perfect example of what happens when classroom learning meets real-world opportunity," said Dr. Michael Mikota, President of Spartanburg Community College.
