Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation Awards Grant to Spartanburg Community College

SPARTANBURG, SC - Spartanburg Community College (SCC) has received a $4,300 grant from the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation to support students and community members experiencing food insecurity. The award was made through the Foundation’s Nourishing Our Neighbors grant program, which supports local organizations working to increase access to nutritious food while providing nutrition education to promote long-term health and wellness.

The funding will support SCC’s ongoing efforts to address food insecurity among its student population by expanding access to healthy food options and strengthening nutrition-focused programming. Through initiatives such as Chaser’s Pantry, community partnerships, and student support services, SCC continues to remove barriers that impact student success both inside and outside the classroom.

“This investment from the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation strengthens our ability to support student success by expanding access to nutritious food through Chaser’s Pantry. By helping meet this essential need, we are ensuring our students can remain focused on their education and long-term goals,” said Dr. Michael Mikota, President of Spartanburg Community College.

The Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation is committed to supporting families facing food insecurity across its 10-state footprint. Established in 2001, the Foundation provides financial support to programs and organizations dedicated to feeding neighbors in the communities Food Lion serves. Since its inception, the Foundation has awarded more than $25 million in grant funding to help nourish communities with fresh food.
