Student Spotlight: James Gunter Lands a Spring Internship with the Hub City Spartanburgers!

We’ve got exciting news to share from Spartanburg Community College (SCC)! One of our very own Digital Design students, James Gunter, has been offered an internship with the Hub City Spartanburgers this spring. Way to go, James!

James will be working in the Customer and Guest Services Department. Even though it’s not all about design, this internship will help him grow in other important areas like talking with customers and learning how to work with the public. He’ll also get a front-row seat to see how the team uses their brand in ads and promotions—something that connects closely to his future career goals.

 

A Little About James

James is from Spartanburg, SC, and he’s currently studying Digital Design at SCC. He says that one of the best parts about being at SCC is the professors.

“I have really loved and appreciated each of my professors and the way they are invested in me and my fellow students,” James said. “I feel the professors here are equipping us with life skills that will follow us outside of school and into our designated careers.”

James's favorite classes so far include Electronic Publishing, Computer Graphics, and Computer Imagery—pretty cool stuff for a future graphic designer!

James is super excited about his internship, which runs from March 24 to August 15, 2025. He’s especially looking forward to learning how to communicate better and improve his customer service skills.

“I am looking forward to working alongside people who know and love the industry and getting the privilege to experience and take part in some of the behind the scenes of what makes the Hub City Spartanburgers,” he shared.

James is also eager to discover how the Spartanburgers team builds and shares their brand with the public. It’s a great chance for him to see how all the pieces of a business work together—from design to customer experience.
