SCC Extends “Live to Chase” for Another Year of Tuition-Free Education

May 22, 2025

Press Releases

In a continued commitment to accessible, high-quality education, Spartanburg Community College is proud to announce the continuation of its Live to Chase Initiative for the upcoming 2025-2026 academic year.

This initiative ensures that eligible students can pursue their academic goals without the burden of tuition costs. Open to both new and returning students, the scholarship covers the full cost of tuition for the school year.

The initiative will focus on promoting persistence and the willingness to chase by requiring recipients to be enrolled in a program that awards either a certificate or degree and maintain at least a 2.2 GPA. Students will have to either live or work full-time in South Carolina, complete the FAFSA, and take a minimum of six credit hours.

This approach remains sustainable thanks to internal operational improvements that allow the College to use its resources more efficiently delivering a significantly greater return on investment for the communities it serves and for the state of South Carolina as a whole.

"At Spartanburg Community College, we believe that individual talent is the driving force behind both personal and economic success,” said Dr. Michael Mikota, President of SCC. “That’s why I’m proud to announce the continuation of our Live to Chase initiative, which will once again offer full tuition scholarships to qualifying students. In today’s fast-changing higher education landscape, SCC remains committed to leading through innovation—expanding access, making college more affordable, and supporting the determination and potential of every current and future Chaser we serve."

Applications are now open, and prospective students are encouraged to apply early to secure their spot.

As a result, the College has seen a 62% increase in enrollment since 2020 and currently has the highest enrollment in its 60+ years of operation. SCC continues to make history as the fastest growing public college in South Carolina in over 20 years.
