Job Description
TRIO Student Support Services, part-time Peer Tutors (Temporary Grant Positions-TGP), provide academic assistance to a diverse population of students through individual and/or small group tutoring sessions. Tutors use effective instructional strategies to review key concepts, demonstrate problem solving strategies, reinforce study skills, and prepare students for tests.

Responsible for maintaining accurate attendance records, effectively communicating student progress with TRIO Student Support Services staff while maintaining student confidentiality, and participating in appropriate professional development opportunities to include orientation and training workshops.
 
TRIO SSS Peer Tutor positions allow for flexible scheduling. Tutors typically work between 2-20 hours a week on the Giles Campus, Cherokee County Campus, Downtown Campus, Tyger River Campus, and Union County Advanced Technology Center. Pay rate is competitive and determined by evaluating qualifications.

Minimum and Additional Requirements
Applicants must be recommended by at least two instructors and/or staff members; have transcripts reflecting knowledge in subject (letter grades of an A or B) for the class being tutored; and must be in good academic and financial standing with the Ccollege. All Peer Tutors must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher. Applicants must have strong interpersonal and communication skills and be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
