SCC's Horticulture programs provide students with the knowledge and skills required for a successful career in the horticulture industry. Thanks to a widely respected campus arboretum with many gardens and greenhouse production facilities on our campus, SCC students gain hands-on experience with plant production, landscaping, nursery operations, greenhouse management and more. Students also attend conferences and field trips for diverse horticulture experiences and many complete internships with various companies such as Walt Disney World, The Greenery and the Biltmore House.

            Scholarships/Financial Aid:

Any student entering the horticulture program is encouraged to contact our financial aid department. Financial aid opportunities include specific horticulture scholarships such as the "Jimmy Painter Horticulture Scholarship" (any student who is a resident of any county other than Spartanburg or Cherokee counties is eligible for the scholarship that if awarded pays the out-of-county tuition difference for one academic year).

            Training For A Career:
Our Associates Degree program offers hands on training where students acquire knowledge and skills necessary for jobs in our industry such as:

This, together with four greenhouses, a nursery production area, several unique niche gardens and an ornamental garden, provides students with hands-on learning experiences that lead to numerous educational and career opportunities in the progressive southeast. The SCC Arboretum's beauty is highlighted in the annual SCC Arboretum calendar that is sold to raise funds for the Jimmy Painter Horticulture Scholarship fund.
