Surgical Technology Application Process

INFORMATION SESSIONS

These sessions are optional.  If you have any questions about the process of applications you are highly encouraged to attend at least one session.  You do not have to be a current SCC student to attend an information session.

Tuesday, November 15th, 2022 from 10:00-11:00am in the Health Sciences Building, Giles Campus, Room #107

Tuesday, March 21st, 2023 at 4:00-5:00pm in the Health Sciences Building, Giles Campus, Room #107

Applications for the 2023 Fall start will be accepted starting Monday, May 8th at 8:30 am through Thursday, May 11th at 4:00 pm.  Please make sure you can meet the Physical and Mental Community Standards (link below) before you attempt to apply.  The soonest you can attempt to secure a slot for the Associates in Surgical Technology program will be after spring 2023 semester for the following fall 2023 start.

Please look over the  Physical and Mental Community Standards (PDF) prior to applying.  All tasks must be proficient and not place self, patients or others in jeopardy.   Demonstration/documentation may be required.

When accepted, packets must include the following, if not, they will be considered incomplete.  This will result in those packets not being considered for acceptance.

  • Any documentation to verify previous degrees (see score sheet for explanation)
  • You will also need to include a copy of your unofficial transcript from SCC
  • Transfer equivalency report, if needed, to confirm grades with a "TR." This can be obtained through the SCC Records Office.

Once all documentation has been gathered and completed, place all documentation for packet submission in a large envelope (do not fold any paperwork). Write on the outside of the envelope the following information as it pertains to you:

Program Name
Student Name
Address
Phone Number
Email
College ID number

Once packets have been submitted no further documentation can be added.  Packets will be kept on file in case someone who accepted declines their slot; the program faculty will then pull the next packet with the highest ranking score sheet.  The accepted/non-accepted emails will go out approximately one-week after packet submission.  Those emails will only be delivered through the SCC email student address, so you must be a current student at SCC.
