Medical Assisting

Program Information and Overview

INFORMATION SESSION for MA PROGRAM: Information Session for the Spring 2021 Cherokee County Campus Program will be at the SCC Cherokee County Campus in Gaffney, Oct. 15, 2020 in PAB room 205 at 2pm.

If you are considering a career in the health care field, SCC's Medical Assisting Program is a great place to start because you learn about all aspects of health care services. Medical assistants work great hours in a doctor's office type setting performing administrative office procedures, as well as basic clinical and laboratory tasks that keep the office running efficiently. Medical assistants regularly interact with medical staff and patients and manage various tasks simultaneously.
Students in SCC's Medical Assisting Program receive hands-on experience in a lab setting and complete clinical rotations in
local physicians' offices. Many students become employed within three months of completing the program.

Program Goal - Minimum Expectations: To prepare competent entry-level medical assistants in the cognitive(knowledge), psychomotor (skills) and affective areas.
