    Qualifications to apply (BMW):
    • At least 18 years old
    • Officially admitted to SCC in an Associate Degree program in an approved program of study:
      • Automotive Technology
      • Automated Manufacturing Technology-Robotics/Industrial Electronics Technology/Mechatronics/Industrial Repair Technology/ Electronics Engineering Technology
      • Production Associate Technology/Welding-General Technology /Machine Tool Technology
      • Management
    • Enrolled full-time in your 1st or 2nd semester in the Fall 2016 semester
        • Must have 1 ½ to 2 years left in your program
        • Commitment to attend school year-round
    • Minimum 2.8 GPA from your most recent education – must maintain this GPA throughout the duration of the sponsorship
    How to Apply (BMW):
    1. Gather required documents needed:
      1. Resume (call 864-592-4820 to schedule an appointment for a resume critique)
      2. Unofficial transcript from most recent education (showing 2.8 or higher GPA)
      3. Fall 2016 SCC class schedule or SCC letter of acceptance
    2. Call the Career Services office at 864-592-4820 to schedule an appointment to complete the BMW Scholar online application. Bring the documents listed above to the appointment. These documents will be scanned and uploaded to the online application. 

    General Technical Scholar Information 

    The Technical Scholars program offers students the unique opportunity to expand learning beyond the classroom to develop skills for a real-world experience. Students participating in this program attend classes full-time at SCC, in an eligible degree program, while working part-time with a sponsor company, who may also provide tuition assistance for the student.

    Eligible programs of study and application periods vary depending on the company sponsor. All current Technical Scholar openings are posted on the SCC Job Board,

    Eligibility Requirements
    • To be eligible to apply for the Technical & Health Scholars Program, a student must:
    • Be a high school graduate or GED recipient
    • Be at least 18 years old
    • Meet specific program eligibility requirements as defined by the company
    • Be enrolled in an appropriate associate degree program at SCC

    *Programs of study may include, Automated Manufacturing Technology, Industrial Electronics Technology, Electronics Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, Machine Tool Technology, Automotive Technology, and Welding.

    How to Get Started
    Prospective students must first apply to the college for enrollment/acceptance in one of the approved programs of study.
    Current and new students must

    • Complete the Technical Scholars application, (available in the Career Services Office) including
    • a copy of your resume and
    • a copy of your unofficial transcript
    • Document a minimum 2.5 GPA (or higher if designated by the company)
    • Meet the minimum qualifications for participation in the program
