Technical Scholars Program

  • The Technical Scholars program offers students the unique opportunity to expand learning beyond the classroom to develop skills for a real-world experience. Students participating in this program attend classes full-time at SCC, in an eligible degree program, while working part-time with a sponsor company, who may also provide tuition assistance for the student.

    Eligibility Requirements
    • To be eligible to apply for the Technical & Health Scholars Program, a student must:
    • Be a high school graduate or GED recipient
    • Be at least 18 years old
    • Meet specific program eligibility requirements as defined by the company
    • Be enrolled in an appropriate associatedegree program at SCC

    *Programs of study may include, Automated Manufacturing Technology, Industrial Electronics Technology, Electronics Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, Machine Tool Technology, Automotive Technology, and Welding.

    How to Get Started
    Prospective students must first apply to the college for enrollment/acceptance in one of the approved programs of study.
    Current and new students must

    • Complete the Technical Scholars application, (available in the Career Planning and Placement Office) including
    • a copy of your resume and
    • a copy of your unofficial transcript
    • Document a minimum 2.5 GPA (or higher if designated by the company)
    • Meet the minimum qualifications for participation in the program
