The 2019-2020 series kicks off Wednesday, September 25 from 12-1 pm and features Erin Strickland, CPA, and quality control director with SwaimBrown, a Spartanburg company providing accounting, audit, tax, wealth management and consulting services to businesses and individuals.

"Since the College's School of Business relocated to the SCC Downtown Campus, we continuously search for opportunities to strengthen business relationships and broaden professional experiences for our students," explains Witney Fisher, executive director of the SCC Downtown Campus. "The First Citizens Speaker Series provides our students and community residents a first-hand opportunity to learn more about careers, professional pathways and an opportunity to meet 'movers and shakers' in our community. We are excited to welcome Erin Strickland to the college to share her professional experiences as a CPA with our students and guests."

As the quality control director at SwaimBrown, Strickland's practice area includes financial audits (non-profit and for profit); employee benefit plan audits; business consulting; accounting services; manufacturing; distribution; foreign subsidiaries; and closely-held businesses. Her professional and civic memberships include work with the American Institute of CPA's; South Carolina Association of CPA's; West Main Artist Co-Op - board of governors; Episcopal Church of the Advent - former Vestry member, Episcopal Church Woman, outreach commission, Sunday school teacher; Jesse Boyd Elementary School PTSO board member; Spartanburg Science Center - past president and treasurer of board of directors; past treasurer for Junior League of Spartanburg, Spartanburg Artist Guild and Converse Heights Neighborhood; former member of the Converse College Alumnae board; and Mobile Meals volunteer.
