Applying for Graduation

You dreamed it and chased it. Now live it after graduation! Graduation is such an exciting time, and here are some things to remember to get you to the celebration.

You should apply for graduation prior to the advertised deadline during your last semester of a program. You can apply for graduation by going online to the SCC Portal or to any campus location. To apply for graduation through the Portal, go to Self Service > Graduation Overview > Apply beside program of study > fill in required fields and submit. Graduation applications submitted by students are sent to the registrar for approval.

SCC Graduation Frequently Asked Questions

To be eligible for graduation from Spartanburg Community College, you must:
  1. Apply for and be accepted into the program in which he or she is applying for graduation.

  2. Complete all program course requirements in the catalog. A student must complete a minimum of 25 percent of the total hours required in the program through instruction by the college.

  3. Earn a grade point average of at least 2.0 in the courses applicable toward graduation.

  4. Resolve all financial obligations to the college and return all materials.

  5. Make a formal application for graduation in the Records Office, or online, by the publicized graduation deadline date. (The deadline to apply for graduation is posted in various locations on campus and is printed in the Student Planner & Handbook.)

  6. Obtain graduation approval from the registrar.

The graduation ceremony is held once a year. Awards (degrees, diplomas, certificates) will be mailed on advertised dates.
