    New to SCC for the 2019-2020 academic year SC WINS is a statewide sector strategy technical college scholarship program designed to address workforce shortages in South Carolina. The scholarship supplements Lottery Tuition Assistance to help cover any tuition and mandatory fees left after applying all other scholarships or grants. Approved by the South Carolina General Assembly during the spring 2019 legislative session, SC WINS scholarships will be awarded starting in fall 2019. Questions?     • Must have completed the FAFSA
    • Must be receiving Lottery Tuition Assistance
    • Must be enrolled in six credit hours
    • Must be enrolled in a critical workforce area
  • Programs and Classes

    A student must pursue a certificate, diploma or degree from one of the SC Technical College System s 16 colleges. Students can receive the SC WINS for only one certificate, diploma or degree unless the additional certificate, diploma or degree constitutes progress in the same field of study. A student must be enrolled in at least six credit hours per semester, including at least three hours in one of the critical workforce areas. See a list of SC-WINS SCC Eligible Programs (PDF).

    GPA/Continued Eligibility

    A dual enrolled student must have earned at least a 2.0 GPA after attempting twenty-four credit hours. Dual enrollment courses taken in high school in critical workforce area programs count toward the fulfillment of the minimum major course requirement for freshmen.

    Changing Majors

    Changing majors is allowed within the acceptable disciplines in workforce program areas.

    Covered Expenses

    Dual enrolled students will receive $50 per credit hour up to $600 total after applying all other scholarships or grants. The scholarship may cover the cost of tuition and mandatory fees. There is also a book allowance of up to $300 per year for students enrolled in a critical workforce major AND at least three (3) credit hours of critical workforce course work ($150 for the fall term and $150 for the spring term).

    Who is Eligible for SC WINS?

  • Dual Enrolled High School Students

    Students will be eligible to receive the SC WINS scholarship if they meet one of the following two criteria:

    Criteria One (Major): A dual enrolled student must be receiving a Lottery Tuition Assistance Program Scholarship (LTAP) for the current academic year and majoring in a critical workforce area as defined by the State Board for Technical and Comprehensive Education.

    --- OR ---

    Criteria Two (Income): A dual enrolled student must be receiving a LTAP scholarship for the current academic year and receiving free and reduced priced meals.

  • Students Who Have Completed High School

    Students will be eligible to receive the SC WINS scholarship if they meet one of the following criteria:

    Criteria One (Major): A student must be receiving a Lottery Tuition Assistance Program Scholarship (LTAP) for the current academic year and majoring in a critical workforce area as defined by the State Board for Technical and Comprehensive Education.

    --- OR ---

    Criteria Two (Income): A student must be receiving a LTAP scholarship for the current academic year and meet the USDA income eligibility guidelines for free and reduced-priced meals.
