Have you ever cared for a loved one who was sick or injured? If you have and enjoyed that feeling of helping others then a career as a Certified Nursing Assistant or CNA may be right for you. This course teaches you how to properly care for people who need your help. Once you obtain your South Carolina credentials the sky is the limit on where you can go to work. CNAs are utilized in almost every healthcare setting from hospitals and doctors' offices to clinics and nursing homes. You will learn how to take vital signs and perform other vital skills. Having this course under your belt will set the stage if you decide to grow in this rapidly expanding profession. Most schools with weighted admissions give credit to students who are already certified nursing assistants. Come learn how to make your passion of helping people into a rewarding career! Students must complete the Verified Credentials process which includes: vaccination verification, tuberculosis screening, drug screen, and background investigation before registering. A flu shot will also be required if the clinical portion of this course is between October through March. Registrations must be made in person at the Spartanburg Corporate & Community Education Department, Tracy Gaines Building, Room G-17. The South Carolina Nursing Assistant Certification Examination can be taken after successful completion of this program. The exam cost is approximately $101. More information will be given in class regarding how to register and pay for this exam. Employment: The US Department of Labor states that employment for nursing aides, orderlies, and attendants will grow 19 percent (faster than the average for all occupations) predominantly in response to the long-term care needs of an increasing elderly population. Numerous job openings and excellent job opportunities are expected.
