Learn how to capture the essence of architectural subjects with quick, loose sketches in charcoal, pencil, marker and watercolor washes. You will learn the basics of perspective, fundamentals of composition, choosing a view point for drama and interest, what details to keep-what to leave out, how to suggest various building materials, simulating foliage and creating vignettes. Session I in the classroom sketching from photos; Session II outdoors on the SCC campus; Sessions III & IV sketching downtown Spartanburg. This is a great class for fun, learning to design in 3D or painters wanting to bone up on delineating structures. Required materials: 9x12 sketchbook, Black fine line marker, HB pencil, several sticks charcoal (medium hardness), Pointed water color brush, cheap 6 color water color pallet (children's style).
