Take a convenient online course to learn the exciting career of an Emergency Medical Technician in this SC DHEC approved online program. EMTs serve as a vital link in the chain of the health care team. This SC DHEC approved course is designed to instruct students to the level of the South Carolina Emergency Medical Technician. It is recognized that the majority of pre-hospital emergency medical care will be provided by the EMT. This 208 hour hybrid course (online learning and hands-on lab practices) includes all the skills necessary for students to provide emergency medical care under the SC DHEC guidelines. This will enable students to find employment with emergency services in South Carolina. This hybrid online EMT course requires 12 hours of weekly online learning and 10 Saturdays of hands-on skills practice sessions. Students are required to have access to a working computer with MS Office suite and Internet access. The online learning system used is a web-based learning system available to anyone with internet access. Students MUST be prepared to give the time and energy to this hybrid course by planning your online learning time, attending the hands-on skills practice sessions and attending the ride-along experiences. REGISTRATIONS MUST BE DONE IN PERSON at Corporate & Community Education in the Tracy Gaines Building, Room G17. The following documentation must be presented at the time of registration: a high school diploma or GED and a CollegeScreen report. The CollegeScreen report can be completed online for a charge of $75. See additional information below to access the report. NOTE: when completing the application for the CollegeScreen report, you must select Corporate & Community Education as the department. A 2-step PPD (TB) vaccination documentation will be required before the ride-along portion of this program. SCC/CCE requires students to take the ASSET Assessment Test which will be scheduled prior to the class starting. For state certification, candidates must successfully complete the National Registry Exam. This exam requires self disclosure of any felony convictions which may or may not prevent a candidate from becoming a National Registered EMT.
