SCC to hold information sessions about upcoming manufacturing training

Spartanburg Community College is holding information sessions about an upcoming manufacturing training program, including a session at the main campus in Spartanburg on Thursday.

The college's Corporate and Community Education Division is holding the information sessions for a five-week S.C. Manufacturing Certification program that will be offered this June, July and September. The training provides skills for high-demand jobs in advanced manufacturing. The training is free for qualified individuals, according to a written statement.

Thursday's information session will be held from 10-11 a.m. at Tracy K. Gaines Auditorium at the main campus of Spartanburg Community College.

Ideal candidates for the program include unemployed, underemployed or veterans looking to start a career in advanced manufacturing. Applicants must successfully complete a drug screenings and background checks, score silver or better on the WorkKeys test, provide documentation of at least a high school diplomas or GEDs and show a commitment toward completing the program.

Other upcoming information sessions will be held 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. May 19 at Union County Advanced Technology Center; 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. June 16 and 3-4:30 p.m. June 17 at SCC Tyger River Campus, BMW Center, Room 311; and 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Aug. 11-12 at SCC Cherokee County Campus.
