Spartanburg Community College recently welcomed Shawn Masto as the Grants Coordinator, where she will be responsible for managing grants received by college and the SCC Foundation.
"Shawn's background in higher education and knowledge of the upstate nonprofit community make her a dynamic addition to SCC," said Caroline Sexton, SCC's director of grants. "We could not be more excited to welcome her to the grants team."
Masto brings years of experience in higher education to SCC, most recently working at USC Upstate as the program coordinator for the Child Protection Training Center. She joined the USC Upstate staff in 2006 and while there served on the Executive Board of Staff Council and the annual United Way Campaign committee. She is active in the Spartanburg community and currently serves on the board for the Hope Center for Children where she is the program committee chair. Prior to her tenure at USC Upstate, she was the assistant registrar at Sherman College of Chiropractic and at Boston College as the administrator for graduate admissions and financial aid.
Masto received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the College of Charleston.
"I'm thrilled to be given the opportunity to work with this amazing team and become a member of the SCC family," said Masto.
In 2018, SCC was awarded over 20 grants for a total of $1,638,066.
