When Craig Gaulden Davis presented the design concept for the Center for Business and Entrepreneurial Development (CBED) at the Tyger River campus, Spartanburg Community College officials were a little skeptical. However, the college could not be more pleased with the final result — a contemporary space that is already providing a “wow factor” for the growing campus.
Similar incubator projects have been successful in expanding the business base with innovative new businesses and feeding new graduates into the local economy. The renovated space features a variety of private and semi-private offices, conference rooms and collaborative work areas. The CBED space is separate from the college’s academic areas and offers ample warehouse space for new businesses.
The project’s excellent results were delivered well within the project budget, which helped to supplement its furnishings budget with the surplus funds.
