    The Patient Care Technician (PCT) can work in a variety of healthcare settings including hospitals, medical offices, and long-term care facilities. The Certified Nursing Assistant designation is a prerequisite for entry into the PCT Program, as is a high school diploma or GED and the Basic Life Support Certification. The SCC Patient Care Technician Program curriculum includes Medical Terminology (60-hours), Electrocardiogram (EKG) (72-hours), and Phlebotomy (93-hours). Students who successfully complete the EKG and Phlebotomy courses are eligible to sit for the National Healthcareers Association (NHA) EKG and Phlebotomy Certification exams respectively. Upon completion of the 225-hour PCT Program, students are eligible to sit for the NHA PCT certification exam. This program is an ideal pathway to obtain multiple certifications in the healthcare field.

    Requirements for PCT:

    • High School Diploma or GED
    • Prerequisites for PCT are SC CNA Certification and successful completion of BLS (Basic Life Support) for the Healthcare Provider.
    • Complete a background check and 10 Panel Drug Screen.
    • 2-step PPD
    • Influenza vaccine or a sign declination is required if attending class between October and March.

     

    Cost: $4265 - Textbooks are included in the tuition and will be available in class.
