Emergency Medical Technician - EMT

The Emergency Medical Technician Program provides a basic level of both knowledge and demonstrable skills for individuals who provide emergency care. Emergency Medical Technicians work in a variety of settings including county emergency services departments, private ambulance and transport companies, and hospitals. The EMT is responsible for the initial assessment of the patient’s condition and is an integral part of patient stabilization. This 208-hour program is approved by the South Carolina Department of Health & Environmental Control (DHEC). Students who successfully complete this course are eligible to sit for the National Registry Exam.  

Prerequisites for EMT:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Complete a background check, 10 panel drug screen, and 2-step PPD. Proof of MMR, Tdap, Hepatitis B vaccine, and Varicella required. Influenza vaccine is required if attending clinical between October and March.
