Introduction to Welding (Stick, TIG & MIG) 195 HOURS 

Description:  “Introduction to Shielded Metal Arc Welding” (Stick) will cover the basic theory and hands on practice, as well as common operation procedures needed to perform the SMAW process. Definitions and terminology commonly used in welding. Basic understanding of symbols used in welding. Opportunity for students to qualify under D1.1 Structural Code in the 1G position. 

 “Introduction to Gas Tungsten Arc Welding” (TIG) will cover the basic theory and hands on practice, as well as common operation procedures needed to perform the GTAW process. Understanding of the different current and polarity selections in relation to welding variables and machine settings. Definitions and terminology commonly used in GTAW. Basic understanding of symbols used in welding. Basic understanding of filler metal addition techniques like lay, dip and “walking the cup”. Proper tungsten preparation, selection, and taper angles. Opportunity for students to qualify under D1.1 Structural Code in the 1G position with open root.

 “Introduction to Gas Metal Arc Welding” (MIG) will cover the basic theory and hands on practice, as well as common operation procedures needed to perform the GMAW process. Understanding of the different modes of electrical transfer within the GMAW process and how to achieve those modes in relation to the welding variables and machine settings. Definitions and terminology commonly used in GMAW. Basic understanding of symbols used in welding. Opportunity for students to qualify under D1.1 Structural Code in the 1G position.
