Current Class Types at SCC
Our class offerings are available in several different formats. If you prefer a structured schedule with real-time lecture and an interactive setting, classroom or synchronous online option is for you. If working at your own pace without lecture is your preference, choose online option. Class type is indicated when you select your courses:
Traditional Classroom/Face-to-Face – Classes are held on campus, you select location when registering.
F = Flex – This fluid format was created as a COVID-19 response. Classes meet at designated times, but students can choose to attend some class meetings face to face, or attend the class remotely. Students experience both face to face and synchronous online instructional delivery and weave between these formats throughout the semester, either by choice or as extenuating circumstances warrant.
H= Hybrid – Classes combine online learning and require on-campus meetings.
M= Mixture – Classes meet on campus with required use of online components for assignments.
N = Online – Classes are delivered online so you can check in any time. Students are expected to meet assigned milestones during the course, studying at their own pace and preferred time.
S = Synchronous - These classes are online, too, but operate more like a traditional classroom. Students must meet at a designated time online to attend class. Synchronous classes are real-time, and adhere to a schedule like a traditional classroom where attendance is required.
