Summer 2020 Class Types
Our class offerings are available in several different formats. If you prefer a structured
schedule with real-time lecture and an interactive classroom, the tradtional classroom
or synchronous online option is for you. If working at your own pace without lecture
is your preference, choose online option. Class type is indicated when you select
Traditional Classroom/Face-to-Face – Classes are held on campus, you select location when registering.
M= Mixture – Classes meet on campus with required use of online components for assignments.
N = Online – Classes are delivered online so you can check in any time. Students are expected
to meet assigned milestones during the course, studying at their own pace and preferred
S = Synchronous - These classes are online, too, but operate more like a traditional classroom. Students
must meet at a designated time online to attend class. Synchronous classes are real-time,
and adhere to a schedule like a traditional classroom where attendance is required.

Technology requirements for online
Specific SCC course requirements will vary but the typical requirements for the synchronous
classes will be a computing device (preferably a laptop or desktop PC) with a webcam
(or an external webcam) and internet access. It is also recommended that students
have a headset with a microphone. The virtual platforms that will be used include
D2L Virtual Classroom and Zoom.
