Transient Students

  • Taking classes at SCC while you are enrolled at another college is a smart way to earn credits while saving time and money!

    Before applying to SCC, check with your college's registrar office to ensure the course you want to take at SCC will transfer.


    Steps to Enroll for Transient Students

    1. Apply to SCC

      Apply online or at any SCC campus location. A non-refundable $25 application fee is required to submit an application. Application fee payment details.

      Once you’ve applied, log into your
      My SCC Portal account, and access your SCC email account. See instructions here.
    2. Submit Transient Permission Form

      Submit a Transient Permission Form from your college to the SCC Admissions Center: PO Box 4386, Spartanburg, SC, 29305. 

      Official transcripts will be accepted in lieu of Transient Form. Unofficial transcripts will not be accepted. 

      Official college transcripts can be requested through the Parchment Exchange website.

    3. Take Entrance Test, if applicable

      Visit the Admissions Center and complete the COMPASS skills assessment, unless you have already taken -

      • Previous college introductory courses and earned a "C" or better, as shown on your Transient Permission Form or official college transcript, or
      • ASSET
      • ACT and scored a minimum of 19 in Math and 19 in Verbal, or
      • SAT and scored a minimum of 480 in Math and 480 in Critical Reading on the SAT

    4. Confirm Acceptance, See Advisor & Register

      Confirm your acceptance into the College by visiting or calling the SCC Admissions Center at any SCC location

      Once accepted, an Academic Advisor will assist you with advising and registering for classes.

      Registration Start Dates for New Students

      Summer 2014 - March 24, 2014
      Fall 2014 - April 14, 2014
      Spring 2015 - October 20, 2014
    5. Pay Tuition & Fees

      Follow up with the Financial Aid Office and the Business Office to confirm that your tuition and fees are paid.

      Don’t get deleted!
        If you have not paid your tuition by the specified deletion dates, you will lose your class schedule and have to pay $75 to re-register.

      Once tuition and fees are paid, obtain your parking decal at the Business Office, have your SCC student ID made in the Admissions Center, and purchase books for classes at The Book Inn.


      Congrats! Now you are ready for classes!
