As a part of College Goal South Carolina, SCC is hosting a financial aid workshop at the Cherokee County Campus on February 23.

Spartanburg Community College (SCC) is hosting a College Goal South Carolina event on Saturday, February 23rd, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the College’s Cherokee County Campus in Gaffney, S.C. Anyone interested in attending college is invited to attend this free event to receive assistance with completing and filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), get advice from financial aid experts, receive scholarship information and learn about the financial process. Attendees will also have a chance to win an iPad mini.

“The financial aid process can be overwhelming, but it is crucial and beneficial for many individuals seeking to earn a college degree,” said Nancy Garmroth, SCC director of financial aid and veteran affairs. “The College Goal event is a great opportunity for college-bound students and their parents to receive one-on-one assistance, learn more about the various financial aid options and find answers from the experts.”

Individuals planning to complete the FAFSA at the event will need their Social Security number, driver’s license (if applicable), and all 2012 income tax documents including W-2s and other income information. Other records that may be required, if applicable, are business and investment mortgage information, farm records, stock, bond and other investment records.

College Goal South Carolina is a statewide event organized by the South Carolina Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators, the South Carolina Commission of Higher Education, and the South Carolina Student Loan Corporation in cooperation with Spartanburg Community College, as well as other colleges and universities across the state. Financial aid experts from these participating institutions volunteer their time to staff the event and assist attendees.
