Drop Procedures
Students are responsible for dropping classes.
Add/Drop is the period during which a student may add or drop classes without academic penalty. The add/drop period is the first five class days following registration for regular terms and the first two-three days of class for FlexStart terms.
It is important for students to be aware of the deadlines to drop classes each term. If a student stops attending class and does not complete a drop form to drop the course, the instructor will calculate a grade at the end of the term which may result in a grade of F for the course. It is the responsibility of the student to insure that a class is dropped. Students not dropping a class prior to the deadline will receive the grade they earn in the class.
Not dropping classes as required and in a timely manner can affect your financial aid.
The quickest way to initiate a drop is to submit an electronic drop form through WebAdvisor. However, paper forms are available at the Central Campus Student Records Office located in room 156 in the Dan L. Terhune Student Services Building.
Students at the Tyger River Campus and the Cherokee Campus are also encouraged to initiate a drop through WebAdvisor. However, students can check with the Executive Director’s staff and submit paper forms to the staff at Tyger River and Cherokee prior to advertised deadlines.
Faculty/Advisor signatures are not required to drop a class.
Drop forms will not be accepted after the deadline to drop classes.
Students will be allowed to drop classes through the 75% point of the term. A student or an instructor cannot initiate a withdrawal during the last 25% of the course except in extenuating circumstances, with documentation approved by the appropriate department head and academic dean.
After the census date for each term, a grade of W will be awarded for all classes dropped.
Students may be reinstated in a class at the discretion of the instructor.
The date a drop form is received by Student Records will be recorded as the last date the class was attended by the student.
