Career Planning & Placement Smart Jobs Information

What is SMART Jobs?

SMART Jobs is a scholarship program funded by Spartanburg County to provide intensive short-term training for dislocated workers leading to full-time employment opportunities.
The program is also sponsored by the SC Employment Security Commission and supported by the Spartanburg Herald-Journal, Spartanburg County Economic Futures Group, and the Spartanburg Area Chamber of Commerce.

What are the Qualifications to Participate in the SMART Jobs Program?
  • Must be a resident of Spartanburg County
  • Must be dislocated from your most recent job
  • Must have an established fulltime work history
  • Must have a high school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Must be seeking fulltime employment
Getting Started

Eligible participants must register to attend SCC’s College 100 program. This free program helps answer questions concerning the program, reviews training options, and provides a basic skills and career assessment.

What are the Training Options?
  • Administrative Office Skills
  • Basic Computer Skills
  • Certified Nursing Assistant
  • Manufacturing Skills
  • Additional training options may be available based on individual needs
