Advising Center


Your success is our main concern while you are a student at SCC. The SCC Advising Center is your resource for academic advising and beyond.

Our academic advisors will make every effort to:
  • Ensure appropriate course placement
  • Recommend courses each semester prior to registration
  • Approve course schedules and drop/adds per SCC policy
  • Provide information regarding updates and/or changes to your academic program
  • Assist with possible referrals when experiencing academic challenges/conflicts
  • Provide computer training on schedule development and class registration 
  • Offer "how-to" guidance to students such as:

What You Need To Do First

Steps to take prior to visiting the Academic Advising Center

  1. Apply to SCC

  2. Speak with an Admissions Counselor to complete the admissions process:

  3. Apply for Financial Aid

  4. Review SCC Orientation Online - an overview of SCC student services, processes and contact information to guide new students, and act as a valuable resource to all students.

  5. After completing steps 1-3, visit the Academic Advising Center if the following pertains to you:

    • Placement evaluation into any 031-032 level course

    • First-time associate of arts or associate of science student

    • First-time or re-entry into any health science program (awaiting acceptance)
