ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS!!!
2012-2013 Spartanburg Community College Foundation Scholarships
Each year Spartanburg Community College Foundation offers a variety of scholarships that are funded by the Spartanburg Community College Foundation.  In 2011-2012, the SCC Foundation awarded over $20,000 in scholarships to Spartaburg Community College students. 
 
The availability and amount of these scholarships vary from year to year depending of the amount of funds donated.  The scholarships are awarded primarily on the basis of academic achievement, leadership qualities, community activities, honors, awards and financial need as determined by federal regulations. 
 
There are over 30 different scholarships with a variety of scholarship criteria.  For a complete listing of the scholarships being offered and the application, click hereApplication deadline is July 2, 2012.
 
The 2012 AES Engineers Scholarship
The consulting firm of AES Engineers is committed to continuing support of higher education by providing scholarships to deserving students.  To be eligible, the student needs to answer one of the essay questions that they will find on their site at http://www.aesengineers.com/scholarships.htm
 
Scholarships will be awarded based on character as determined by evaluating the essays that are submitted.
 
Deadline for entry is October 5, 2012
 
The Abbott and Fenner Scholarship Awards 2012
This scholarship is available to all high school juniors and seniors, as well as, all students currently registered in any accredited post secondary institution.  To apply for this scholarship you will need to write an essay on the following topic:  "What was the most difficult time in your life, and why?  How did your perspective on life change as a result of this difficulty?"  Your essay should be between 500 and 1000 words.  Submissions must be sent via email at:  scholarships@abbottandfenner.com.

B. Davis Scholarship
This $1000 scholarship is available to all high school juniors and seniors, as well as, all students currently registered in any post secondary institution.  To apply for this scholarship you will need to write an essay on the following topic.  Discuss, in 1000 words or less, how your education has contributed to who you are today, or how it will affect who you will become.
 
Your submissions must be sent by email to awards@studentawardsearch.com by May 28, 2012.
 
Off to College Scholarship Sweepstakes
SunTrust is please to offer the Off To College Scholarship Sweepstakes where students can win a $1000 scholarship for education expenses at an accredited college. 
 
If you are a high school senior planning to attend college or a current college student who will be continuing their undergraduate studies in the fall 2012, you are eligible to enter this sweepstakes.  Fifteen drawings will be held and one winner will be chosen every two weeks from October 28, 2011 through May 11, 2012.
 
 
P.E.O. Financial Assistance for Women
P.E.O. is a Philanthropic Educational Organization for women.  Their mission is to assist women financially in attaining their educational goals.  Two sources of financial assistance are available:

Education Loan Fund
The P.E.O. Educational Loan Fund makes loans available to qualified women who desire a higher education and who are in need of financial assistance.  The maximum loan is $10,000 at 3% interest.  Requirements:
  • Loan must be paid in full within 6 years of graduation.  Payment of the loan begins following graduation.
  • Student must be enrolled in an accredited school.
  • Student must be between four months and two years of graduation.
Program for Continuing Education
P.E.O. program for Continuing Education, established in 1973, is a grant program providing financial assistance to women whose education has been interrupted and who find it necessary to return to school to support themselves and/or their families.  They must demonstrate a need for financial assistance with their educational expenses to improve their marketable skills for employment.  The maximum grant awarded is $3,000.  Students must finish school within 24 months.  The money is intended as a grant-in-aid for expenses such as tuition, books, transportation, and/or childcare, necessary to reach the applicant's educational goal.  The grant is not to be used for living expenses or to repay educational loans or to cover the cost of prerequisite courses.
