Spartanburg Community College Corporate & Community Education, The Upstate Work Investment Board, Union County, Union Adult Education, and USC-Union have partnered with a grant from the SC Department of Commerce to train workers for the new LSP, Inc. plant in Union County. The pre-apprenticeship will polish job skills and help the applicants get ready for the high-tech manufacturing apprenticeships to be offered through LSP, Inc, Timken, Sonoco and others in the Upstate. Approximately 135 new jobs requiring highly technical skilled workers will be available in hydraulics, electronics, robotics operation and maintenance.To apply for this training, visit the Upstate WIB offices in Union, Spartanburg or Cherokee counties to set up an appointment for testing:

Three sessions of pre-apprenticeship training will be held beginning in April 2007, August 2007 an January 2008. Pre-Apprenticeship course include the following:
