Compass Testing

COMPASS is a computer-adaptive placement assessment which measures skills in reading, writing and math.  The COMPASS assessment is used to determine your placement in SCC college courses.

Location and hours for the COMPASS skills assessment:

SCC Central Campus, Admissions Center:

COMPASS Information
Applicants should review sample test questions prior to taking COMPASS. However, this suggestion is not mandatory. Information and sample questions for COMPASS are available from www.act.org/compass.

The results of your skills assessment determine your readiness for college courses. It is in your best interest to prepare for your COMPASS assessment.
  • Applicants are allowed to use a basic calculator.
  • The COMPASS skills assessment is untimed.
  • Applicants must show a driver's license or picture ID prior to taking the assessment.
  • Applicants may see a counselor for interpretation if one is available.
