The Horticulture Technology program at Spartanburg Community College is a two year associate degree program with emphasis on landscaping, nursery operations, and greenhouse work. For more detailed information visit this program's main website.

Graduates of this program find employment in the fields of landscaping, greenhouse and nursery operations, public gardens, and many other horticultural enterprises. Students have a unique opportunity attending SCC's central campus, which is a sanctioned arboretum - one of only five in Spartanburg County. Course work is very hands-on in this program since the horticulture students develop and maintain the beautiful gardens and grounds.

SCC's partnership with Clemson University enables students to transfer credit toward a Bachelor of Science degree in horticulture and agriculture education at Clemson.

SCC's internship program has enabled students to compete with students from four-year schools for prime internship positions with Walt Disney World, Callaway Gardens, Biltmore House and Gardens, as well as with many local sites.

Through numerous grants and the SCC Foundation, SCC's campus has become a nationally recognized arboretum, providing students with an outdoor lab complex. This, together with four greenhouses, a nursery production area, several unique niche gardens and an ornamental garden, provides students with hands-on learning experiences that lead to numerous educational and career opportunities in the progressive southeast. The SCC Arboretum's beauty is highlighted in the annual SCC Arboretum calendar that is sold to raise funds for the Jimmy Painter Horticultre Scholarship fund.
