Program Description
The General Technology Program is intended for students who find it necessary to design a program to meet specific individual needs. It is to be used sparingly and should not be used in lieu of an approved major. To enroll in the program, the student must meet with the Surgical Technology Program coordinator to determine a curriculum plan. Acceptance into the program must be approved by the Surgical Technology Program coordinator.
Practical Experience
Students may gain additional clinical experience in affiliated hospitals, ambulatory surgical centers, and/or physicians’ offices based on the specific curriculum that is designed.
Professional Opportunities
Certified surgical technologist employed as a first assistant, central service manager, educator, medical sales representative or other specialty depending on the selected courses
Unique Aspects
Students must be a graduate of a CAAHEP accredited Surgical Technology Program and be currently certified by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting.
