A vital role of the technologist is to maintain aseptic techniques and sterile conditions prior to and during surgery to minimize the risk of infection to the patient. The surgical technologist may also assume some patient care responsibilities. Full-time students in this program enroll in three to six courses per term which average 26-36 class hours per week or 12-19 credit hours per term.
