Medical Laboratory Technology

The Medical Laboratory Technician performs a wide variety of routine and specialized diagnostic and screening procedures to provide the physician with accurate results.  These results are used by the physician to diagnose, treat, and subsequently monitor patient progress.  As medical investigators, medical laboratory technicians perform blood collection techniques, operate state-of-the-art instruments, computers, and examine specimens under the microscope.  Medical laboratory technicians spend less time with patients than do other allied health professionals, but are  important members of the health care team providing vital information which can influence the treatment of patients.
