Praxis I Pre-Professional Skills Test

A passing score is required on the Praxis I Test for entry into any four year education program.    If you are planning to seek a four-year degree in Early Childhood, Elementary or Middle Grades education, you will be required to pass the Mathematics, Reading and Writing portions of this test.    The State of South Carolina sets the passing score marks.    This test should be completed before the junior year.    Without a passing score in each area, students will not be accepted in the School of Education and will not be allowed to take course work.   Students who have scored 1100 SAT (old version), 1650 SAT I (new version), or 24 on ACT may exempt Praxis I.

Spartanburg Community College offers a test preparation course to help build skills for the Praxis I test.    This course is IDS 104, Career Exploration, Praxis I Test Prep.   The course is offered online and can be repeated, if necessary.    Please see this link for additional information about this course:  Praxis I Test Prep, IDS 104

The actual Praxis I Test is administered by the Educational Testing Service.    You will need to check the website:  http://www.ets.org to register for the test.    This website provides information about the current fee for the test and locations and dates.   Sample test questions are also available at this website.
