Community Scholarships
WIA Scholarship: Workforce Investment Board
For Those Who are Unemployed, Under-employed,
Started College but no Degree or Certificate
Have you started, but never finished college? You may be eligible for a Workforce Investment Act (WIA) Scholarship at SCC through
Workforce Investment Board (WIB). High-demand occupations include: CNC Machinist, Industrial Maintenance, Machine Tool Technician, Mechatronics CE, Pipe Fitting NCCER Craft, Patient Care Technician, Pharmacy Technician, Respiratory Care Technician, and Truck Driver (CDL).
The WIA program is for individuals that are unemployed, under-employed or dislocated, and for individuals that have some college course work, but no degree or certificate. For more information, contact Carolyn O'Lenic at

Area Career Center Scholarships
This scholarship is awarded to one student from each of the five area career centers- R.D. Anderson Applied Technology Center, Cherokee Technology Center, Daniel Morgan Applied Technology Center, H.B. Swofford Career Center and Union County Schools Career and Technology Center. Recipients are selected by the respective career center.
Stephen "Todd" Reynolds Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to a graduating high school student from Chesnee High School with a minimum 3.0 high school cumulative GPA. Preference is given to a student pursuing a degree in electronics. Application procedures may be obtained from the guidance office at Chesnee High School.
American Welding Society District Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to a full-time student in a welding program with a minimum 2.5 GPA. The student must be a U.S. citizen, a S.C. resident and eligible to receive Lottery Tuition Assistance. An AWS scholarship application must be submitted by the announced deadline. Please visit their page at

The John Featherston, M.D. Scholarship
This schoalrship is awarded to a student who is full-time in the fall semester of the second year of the radiologic technology program with a minimum 3.0 GPA. The student must be a member of the S.C.S.R.T. and UDI with plans to remain active in the professional field. Application procedures may be obtained from the SCC radiologic technology department head.
The Mildred Harrison Dent Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to one student from each of the three Spartanburg County career centers - R.D. Anderson Applied Technology Center, Daniel Morgan Applied Technology Center and H.B. Swofford Career Center. Recipients are selected by the respective career center.
Adult Learning Center Scholarship
This scholarship is available to students who enroll at SCC and have earned a GED through the Adult Learning Center. Application information is available from the Adult Learning Center or by calling (864) 562-4105.
